Our History
Our laneway’s story began decades ago, historically at 105 Bridge St stood a building, which for 40 years, housed Kirby Carriers, a Nelson family-owned freight company.
In 2013 Galen King—founder of the award-winning coworking space The Bridge Street Collective—purchased the land with the vision of expanding on The Bridge Street Collective’s community inspired space.
Not wanting to loose all connections to the historical aspects of the site, Mr King choose to bring back a small piece of history by re-enlisting the Kirby name, this time under the title of Kirby Lane.
Kirby Lane lives on to bring the vast communities of Nelson together through our food truck market, pop up events, and functions.
With beautifully designed seating—and plenty of space to relax and entertain—we have created a community space for all to enjoy.
We are local, we are community focused, we are Kirby Lane.
